Van Der Graaf Generator in Moscow

Wow. Just wow.

Warning: a lot of photos. Sorry for the quality - I dared not use the camera light.

When I first heard about their reunion, I was a bit sceptic. You know, rock pensioners sometimes get together to make some bucks on the good ol’ days. But I had faith in Van Der Graaf because they’ve always been different. Well, they still are.

When they gave a concert in Moscow in 2005, it was a dream come true. Yesterday it was a dream come true x 2.

The trio does sound different. Comparing the two concerts, I think the first one was much more frightening. Maybe, it’s just me or the track lists or Jackson. Sure, when the trio performs Gog Magog you can’t call it light music (damn, why didn’t they do it yesterday?) Anyway, Meurglys III made up for it.

Hammill now plays more guitars and Banton plays more organs. Just watching Hugh as he manipulates his kit with both hands and feet is fantastic.

The more I see them live, the more I love them.

You can find more photos from the concert here.
